Vanishing interview
May 25, 2011Dear Sir,On May 23, 2011 I was listening to a news report on radio station FM89, an interview was conducted with one of Bermuda’s former premiers; Sir David Gibbons. In this writer’s opinion, the content of Sir David’s interview was very alarming. Words to the effect that Bermuda’s financial malaise should be laid almost entirely at the feet of the present government. He was not very complimentary of the way Bermuda is being governed and suggested that if we do not obtain political change soon, we; Bermuda, could find ourselves in a more precarious position. At 1pm, an hour later, I listened intently to hear what Sir David Gibbons said again when there was a re-broadcast of the news. For some reason the broadcast was scrambled and I could not hear at all what was said. I then waited for the 7pm television news and was shocked that nothing of this interview was mentioned. My question to you, Mr Editor, is to why was such an important person’s point of view not aired again? Is it possible that we can hear this interview in its entirety or is the press trying to suppress the freedom of speech?FAIR PLAYWarwick
