How wrong we were

July 8, 2011Dear Sir,I read with great interest the article in The Royal Gazette dated Friday July 8, 2011, Page 9 under the headline “Meeting fails to address fears over hotel sewage plans”. It states that Mr Jones told the crowd that the sewage facilities would be state-of-the-art, creating no odour or noise! We were told that by Belmont Hills when we held meetings as concerned neighbours when the old Belmont Hotel was being converted into condos and new houses built on the site. I can assure you we regularly put up with strong offensive smells of sewage which fills the air and house. There have been days when the wind is in the northwest that I have had to leave the house to escape the smell. We were also told it was state of the art equipment and no smell would be detected. How wrong we were! And the sad thing is, once it's there, there's nothing you can do.DAI JAMESWarwick
