July 20, 2011Dear Sir,During the ravages of war as the troops advance over the battlefield, both sides take on many casualties. When the order is given to advance the troops must obey. At some point the order is given to cease firing and retreat and it is at this time when they take stock of the damage received: attend to the many wounded, take care of the many casualties; order food medical supplies and ammunitions; and bring in fresh troops.This is where we are politically here in Bermuda, we need a complete change of guard at the top and short of bringing in a foreign invasion ie closing down Parliament and the judiciary, like the British did in the Turks & Caicos, we need to form a new group with a completely new mind set and start our advance all over again, in an attempt to right the many wrongs that we are now experiencing and reading about within our courts and in our political arena. We need a third party in the next election. This reality is borne out in the formation of the OBA that we need a change. The only thing that will stave off a foreign invasion is to go independent and we don't want to go in that direction because of the potential economic, political, social and criminal elements and international backlash of same which would leave us with two options: swim or float. Because this Island will sink and fast even quicker then that!Great Britain, has to step in at some point shortly because they gave us the warning sometime back to get our house in order or else and then came the article in The Royal Gazette page three, Wednesday, January 5, 2011, ‘UN regret at lack of debate on independence'. But the position shared by many stated in this article was that, we needed to know that kind of Government (and constitution) we would have going forward. We don't want a PLP or an OBA Government for obvious reasons. In my last article, in Letters to the Editor Page four Tuesday, July 12, 2011 issue, I made the suggestion of an all female party should be formed because the existing parties had become too top heavy and my closing remarks where they can be successful on a simple platform: based upon Honesty!
