More trial and error

September 20, 2011Dear Sir,Recently I have read that there has been another hiring of another overseas consultant. Another hiring, but no cost to the Government. When is there a hiring with no cost? Are we being told that this lady has come here to offer her services and paid her own airfare, hotel accommodations, food and transportation around the island? Well, if this is the case we should ask for more of her friends who can do likewise in other areas of concern in Bermuda. The one thing that I have learned over the years is that if someone says that there is no cost beware. Because someone is not being truthful and there is a hidden clause and somewhere down the road the truth rears it's ugly head. By now it is too late and the money is spent and we are left holding the bag of no cost.If this lady's services are so needed we should hire her and get rid of the Minister because she is not doing her job. But it is common practice for Government to place unqualified persons in position and then that person has to hire someone to do the job for them. In all honesty the government pays some very high wages for empty chairs. It seems that no one is fully accountable for their budget. Allow me to expose this for you the readers. You see on every job site each contractor has been awarded a contract for their production on the site. Each one is responsible for their part of the project and each one has one thing on their mind: to make a profit. The contractual part of it is this: Each one may not know the other, but one thing is common, the bond of production to meet the deadline. Although they are unknown to one another, they have to work together for the common cause and as time goes on there is one family of contractors.Apparently government has not learned this in their administration, so consequently complete confusion and great over cost. Unfortunately there are labourers in the place of mechanics and the forewoman is working by trial and error at great cost. But in the book of Ecclesiastes 3:1 “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under Heaven”. The PLP has had it's season of ups and downs. I will not question either one, but you be the judge at the next election. The unfortunate thing is there is no seniors for them to go to for advice and if you look at the OBA like the PLP they have no seniors to look to for advice. So what will happen is more trial and error. If we look at the book of 2 Chronicles 10:1-10 you can read for yourselves what happened during the reign of King Rehoboam when he did not take the advice offered by the seniors. The young king did not listen to the elders, but followed the advice of his young friends and lo and behold he lost the kingdom. But looks up this information on your computers you will find it very interesting reading or go to your Bibles The time for parties has to go, because if you look the word up as I did it reads “A social gathering”. I should like to think that government is to be moe than a social gathering to party at the cost of tax payers. I look to other areas of administration, particularly that of the Port Royal Golf Course, the government course that will not reduce green fees as Belmont and Riddles Bay have this course should have set the pace in these hard times but time will tell how an effective administration should operate in the interest of the people it is working for. I pray this government well if it will listen. Proverbs 29: 18 reads as follows “Where there is no vision, the people perish, but he that keepeth the law, happy is he”. But search the Bible for yourself and read it's truths. God Bless you all.ARTHUR EW (SCOPSIE) HASSELLSandys
