Hold them accountable

October 18, 2011.Dear Sir,I realize I am coming in on the slip stream of a wonderful letter written by Elspeth A. Brewin, in my Royal Gazette yesterday, October 17, 2011. To sail into the sunset as we are now doing, with a severe leak in our boat, hearing a disgraceful repetitious expression “It is, what it is” is nothing short of shameful, when hundreds upon hundreds are drowning with no help in sight. The escape is nowhere to be found now it is too late; but for us to think there will be no investigation, no transparent ultimate hearing and judgments and no subsequent sentences, must be unacceptable, to all and every decent thinking person in Bermuda.Justice? Justice is seldom available to people who have no money, this has been the case from Time in Memoriam. I have long talked about People Power when justified, we are witnessing this power right now all over the world. Good or bad, it is the little man with no assets other than his bravery, indignation, and a feeling of what is fair, exercising his right to challenge.Could Bermuda just come to the wicket and bring to task and hold accountable the perpetrators of these injustices, that we have all been witness to in the past ten years. The pain is bearable if we know the medication is on its way, and will be administered. This is a chance for Bermuda to show the world hoe it can be done.DIANA WILLIAMSPembroke
