Crime and education

Hide the newsNovember 22, 2011Dear Sir,Ignorance is bliss.Wayne Furbert is absolutely right. You should not print comparative murder rates that show Bermuda in a bad light. Or at the very least if you print them, locate them in a little read section like reports about debates in the House of Assembly.I have a suggestion which I would like you to consider. Why not appoint the staff of the Department of Education as your editorial team. They have kept young Bermudians in ignorance for more years than I care to remember, and their undoubted skills in this area could be transferred to The Royal Gazette so that the public could be hoodwinked about the number of murders taking place in Bermuda. Everyone would be happy in our ignorance, and the tourists would flock to Bermuda. It would have the additional advantage that Wayne Furbert and his colleagues in Cabinet could fool all of the people all of the time.ROBERT STEWARTSmith’s
