Justifying my success

January 20, 2012Dear Sir,Is Bermuda and what goes on here just about race? Can’t a person better their life due to hard work regardless of their skin tone? I’m black, my wife is black, do we have to be poor? Both of us grew up poor, been there, lived that life. Is my/our only path to a better life via the Government (PLP/OBA/UBP)? Do I/we have to wait for approval from other black Bermudians before I/we make decisions on our lives? Do I have to justify my life based on what others don’t have? Do I have to accept a lifestyle based on what the current government and its supporters think I should have?Is it wrong for me to do everything in my power to make my non-Bermudian wife happy, even if that results in us leaving Bermuda? Should I or my wife be held responsible for other people’s action/inaction or how they choose to live their lives? Am I wrong or guilty for being successful in spite of my skin colour? My level of success is not based on other peoples measurements, my past is the measurement that is most important to me. Have a nice day, we are flying out today to spend time in the house that the Government says I can’t buy in BDA.AT WORKCity of Hamilton
