Dear Sir,

“Race and Justice” is a conversation that Trayvon Martin’s death has prompted black, and even white, Americans to have. Bermuda has not had a Trayvon but many black males feel that black and even white Bermudians need to have the same conversation. CURB is having that conversation on March 30 and 31. Our continuing racial disparity suggests that all of us might join that conversation for the good of all Bermuda, and also hear Michelle Alexander speak on her now famous book ‘The New Jim Crow’. All well disposed Bermudians will want to know if her discussion might apply to Bermuda in any way at all even if we have not had a Trayvon. Race continues to be an issue in Bermuda, as much as some would like for us to be silent about it. Solve the racial problems and disparities and the issue will go away.
