What must be done

March 28, 2012Dear Sir,I could never say it any better than the letters I have had the pleasure of reading in my Royal Gazette lately. John Zuill, Mark Emerson and Robert Davies Jr, such erudite sensitive letters. It is a pleasure to open one’s paper to read such thoughtful contributions, it makes one feel that with this kind of influence and input we could come into the sunshine again. It would take time, sacrifice and dedication from every man woman and child on this Island. To close ranks and be a team, forget politics, a Bermudian family team. It can be done, it must be done, any sacrifice we can all make to save this darling little island would be worth it. The next generation, our children and our grandchildren deserve nothing less, could we walk away from that responsibility? I think not.1. Why are we surprised at the anger from our youth today, when we never gave them any tools. If I asked a carpenter to make me a table and gave him no tools would I expect to get a table?2. We should in the near future not shirk away from giving the death penalty for selling drugs, not using, but selling drugs.3. Could a lottery help in these catastrophic financial times? It would mean that all of us would be asked, even if it was only $5 a month, to be part of the recovery of this Island. We would all feel that we belonged to that team that brought Bermuda back to what it could be again?4. Rick Chapman on The Good Samaritan on Page 13 and 18 in your Royal Gazette today. Brilliant.5. Chris Maxwell “How to make a kite“. The way to go Chris, well done.6. There is so much good in Bermuda. Let us all vow to harness that and bring back that goodness, that Bermuda is so famous for.DIANA WILLIAMS
