Change immigration policy now

Empty desks: Even when offices are occupied, many desks are empty in 2012, says a building manager.

May 22, 2012Dear Sir,Every day I read or see something on television which gives me the impression that this Government is like the wife whose husband is having an affair but she is the last one to know about it. In this case it is not an affair, but an exodus. Today’s letter from Doug Soares is absolutely accurate as are the comments of Bob Richards, Craig Simmons, Larry Burchall and many others.I manage an office building in Hamilton and over the last two years I have seen more and more empty desks. Last year we lost a tenant because the Department of Immigration flat out refused a work permit for an executive. So a company which had three employees from abroad and two Bermudians shut down and left the Island. This is a fact. The policies of this government have played a major part in the decline in numbers of the workforce. Now they have announced another “initiative”; the Labour Force Survey to gain information on employment trends. We know the trends, we don’t need to spend more time and money on surveys. We need to change immigration policy, yesterday.TELL THE WIFECity of Hamilton
