Call for change is massive

August 17, 2012Dear SirI refer to the letter from “Don’t be Swayed” in response to my letter of August 11. My letter was critical of the Progressive Labour Party and his letter suggested that I should not be critical but that I should extol the successes of the PLP. In other words, let’s be positive and all come together for the betterment of Bermuda. First of all, the writer suggests that The Royal Gazette should make space for ‘ ... all the good and outstanding things accomplished by the PLP as they continue to move this country forward”. The writer tells us that these accomplishments and successes are so legendary and numerous that they would fill the paper although he mentions not one thing they have done. That comment so defies reality that all I can say is that this guy needs to spend some time above ground! Move the country forward? Yeah, forward over a cliff ...!He then suggests that my comments about “cronyism” (and I refrained from using another word beginning with C!) simply did not exist within the PLP and, if it did, all governments, especially the United Bermuda Party, were guilty of cronyism. I was referring to the 21 year less a day, rent free, lease to Pastor Bean! Believe me, that’s just the latest deal in such a long line that we now simply take it for granted or, at best, we just make a little noise and then go back to sleep. And by the way, if you dislike and disagree with the UBP so much, why are all you PLP love bugs always justifying your actions with claims that ‘ they did it too!”? Presumably that makes it right? It is too easy to point out all the negatives surrounding the PLP but to suggest that I shouldn’t be allowed to do so yet you and all the other people with their heads in the sand seem to accuse the One Bermuda Alliance of everything negative ... and they haven’t even had a chance to do their thing! The call for change is massive and it’s not going to be because we don’t know what the OBA stands for ... it’s going to be because we know what we will get from the PLP. And no amount of cake icing on the part of PLP people will ever change the fact that all we will get is continued incompetence, hopelessness, job losses, increased crime and the further polarisation of Bermuda.I DON’T EVEN WANT TO BE FAMOUSSouthampton
