Left high and dry
October 25, 2012Dear Sir,I have an elderly aunt who is 84 years old. A year ago she had her savings account wiped out by a con artist. In order to get her back on her feet, we had to rent her property and move her into a small apartment. We also had to get a loan from a bank to help her pay outstanding bills etc. Last week she was in shock to find out that her tenant who had a year lease through a real estate agent was let go by a local bank. He was supposed to give three months special notice, if he intended to break his lease or leave Bermuda. Instead he left the country, he has left my aunt high and dry, she lives off her rental funds to pay her loan, her rent, and food. Every time a job is lost in this country, Bermudians are getting the shaft. I am sure she is not the only one to be treated like this.ELDERLY VICTIMDevonshire
