Invigorated by OBA’s businesslike approach

May 16, 2013

Dear Sir,

It is with intrigue that I mention the reaction to my contributions on political life in Bermuda. It is no secret where my support lies, what I believe is the new and right approach to sensible and competent governance for our lovely island home.

What is of interest to me, however, is those that comment that I appear to find no fault with the OBA government, while this may be said to be fair comment I still stand my ground.

I am a supporter of a new administration that has brought a breath of much needed fresh air and optimism to government. In the area of criticism there are many to fill those shoes, presently I am not one of them. I am invigorated by the businesslike approach to difficult challenges now and in the future that the OBA are faced with and are doing so with energy and sincere commitment.

This is a new group now enjoying political power in Bermuda, they are not the second coming and most certainly will not get everything right, that much I will say. We just want the government to get on with it. Too many of our people languish in unemployment and for the business community to feel encouraged and embraced to do more to create job opportunities is the right way to go.

The detractors will have their say and that is how it should be, however the OBA has to chew the tough end of the steak and find successful ways to tenderise it. Our future looks bright with a better crew on the bridge, let’s stop the anger of defeat and get on board for rebuilding our economy and battling the Goliath of national debt!

I applaud the government for not responding to every shout of disapproval and second guessing every initiative, answer reasonable queries and get the job done.

WAYNE B SCOTT
