Dear Sir,

No amount of rational thought or ‘trumpeting’ (your word, not mine) of the One Bermuda Alliance’s achievements will ever make an ounce of difference to those who will never waver from the Progressive Labour Party mantra. And I admit, it would seem to me to be a very, very serious stretch of the imagination that I could ever support the PLP mainly because of the same old, same old level of incompetence, lack of familiarity with economic reality and general predisposition to benefit themselves and their union brethren with blatant disregard to the rest of humanity.

But anyone with eyes open and willing to try to understand reality gut checks will read the full page ad in todays Royal Gazette with serious care. And it would be a very valuable exercise to try and understand reality — as opposed to getting bogged down in political rhetoric and blaming one another — because the 2014 Budget is likely to be a unique experience for Bermuda.

The PLP are far better than the OBA at political garbage talk. Far, far better. The OBA has not perfected nor do they seem to have the desire to engage in the political rhetoric that is so important to talk show regulars and PLP stalwart. Anyone reading what the OBA has done in nine months should be astounded at the level of achievement and the value of understanding the problem and having a solution. Not the only solution ... just one solution.

It won’t happen overnight but this is a massive start and a step in the right direction. I make no apologies for my political position but no amount of political double speak from Zane (DeSilva), Marc (Bean), Lovita (Foggo) and the other Alaskans will convince me that they have any ability to do anything but what they did for 14 years ... spend and put us firmly on the road to rack and ruin!
