Dear Sir,

I do not carry a brief for the Progressive Labour Party. The Premier may be “a good and not a magician” but he spoke passionately enough about his experience of racism before he became Premier — experiences with which Kath Bell cannot identify but I do — that I expected him to put forward specific proposals to address the economic and psychological disparities, particularly since he was bemoaning our “lack of togetherness”. He does not have to be a magician to put forward proposals!
