Questioning accuracy of ZBM forecasts

January 27, 2014

Dear Sir,

ZBM is given to boasting about its Accuweather forecasts. I wonder if they can enlighten me as to why they do not carry information about the weather in the Falkland Islands and southern Argentina — Patagonia — for the lovely lady who gives the information stands before a screen which is plainly marked “South West Atlantic”.

I am also given to wondering where the temperature readings come from.

The Hamilton temperature is, of course, provided over the telephone along with the time of day, but Somerset, Tucker’s Town and St. George’s remain a mystery to me.

Have they got meteorologists who can be relied on to throw open a window and stick a thermometer into the outside air? At whatever time may be considered best (we are never told).

Personally I commend the expert forecasts derived from the professionals at the airport.

Yours sincerely,

WS ZUILL Sr
