Is the PLP’s House boycott warranted?

July 12, 2014

Dear Sir,

Have the PLP become a party of moaners, groaners and dividers as they attempt to convince they are the party to lead Bermuda?

Does The Opposition want Bermuda and its people to prosper and be together? Verbal attacks on people in same sex relationships, PRC holders, foreigners and anyone who disagrees with their thinking suggests otherwise. We are in shaky times, most of which could have been avoided. That brings me on to the following! The Opposition’s boycott of The House of Assembly. Is their action warranted or is it just another way of trying to embarrass the present govt? The Governor has stated he will revisit the decision to have a Commission Of Inquiry, concerning the accusation of people’s being disadvantaged, during the compulsory purchase of their land in St.Georges. At present, he sees fit not to order one, as there is not enough evidence at this time to go forward with a costly inquiry as it may lead to naught, my words(seems reasonable to me). To the people who feel aggrieved, supply the necessary info, that will convince The Governor, to order an inquiry. Get your facts, figures and anything else together in a dossier and present it. I am sure, if your case is convincing enough, an inquiry will be carried out. No person should feel aggrieved or be displaced by a govt’s action, both parties should be winners!

Meanwhile, leaders of The Opposition, do not play politics with this highly emotive issue. If you want to convince your followers into thinking wide scale wrongdoing was carried out, show them, convince them with fact. Fact that is supported with documentary or other evidence, is the way forward. Prove that what you are accusing did take place. There is an old saying “Put up or shut up”! Stop the divisive rhetoric!

Our island is reeling, as it is challenged to recover to a place where all can benefit.

We need a clear plan outlining a way forward. A large number of people, are experiencing losses in employment, and a decline in their standard of living. We Bermudians are losing our homes, struggling to pay for groceries and generally facing undue hardship.

We do not need sideshows, that may increase one party’s chance of winning the govt.

We need a collaborative effort on everyone’s behalf, so we ALL CAN prosper, not just the politically select few!
