A true icon of tourism industry
Dear Sir,
I’m writing to you once more after a long absence. I’m wishing to share my feelings with all.
Bermuda has lost a true icon in the tourism industry. With great sadness, any who knew her would truly say the same as I.
You just don’t find the likes of Hazel Lowe every day in the world; they come from a very special place.
A loving mother to her children and to the many people that chose Salt Kettle House to stay when visiting Bermuda. Each guest would eventually become a repetitive guest over many years, becoming an extra family member of the Lowes, and were treated as such. She knew most of them on a first-name basis.
I remember my brother, David Gibbons, bringing down a very large group of doctors and lawyers from South Carolina — they were treated like royalty. These people still to this day talk about Hazel Lowe and how they were made to feel like family while staying at Salt Kettle House.
Of course, I could go on for a long time about her love for Bermuda and her special love for Salt Kettle, Paget. She was well known by all that reside in the area; a dear friend to each of them.
So Bermuda, if accolades are to be given to anyone, Hazel Lowe should be a true recipient. Her smile and wit would light up a room and her eyes would tell you of the love she shared with her family and friends.
Hazel Lowe, I’m sure you will go to a very special place in heaven to share your wonderful memories of your life in Bermuda, while we are left without your presence. We will share and remember the good times each of us shared with you. By golly, there were so many.
Love you, sweetheart.
To Michael, John, Suzie and Jane and your extended families, our heartfelt condolences be with each of you during this very sad time.
