Please reassure this environmentalist
A letter to the Department of Environmental Protection:
The following comment is from an admittedly avowed environmentalist, but whose logic is irrefutable.
Can you provide any encouragement to those of us who care about safeguarding the marine environment?
Are you assured of now apprehending the culprit and also making an example of them? (eg, were fingerprints taken from the spear, because presumably the eyewitness can also confirm whether or not he/she was wearing gloves by the exposure of their hands prior to making their escape?)
Do you think that this is the first of that predator’s dreadful advantage taken? (Presumably you are a diver yourself and therefore know that parrotfish can be approached without instilling the “escape reflex”, but thankfully mostly by the admiring local or tourist diver purely wishing to take their picture rather than also their life).
Can you please advise? Thank you!
Best,
