Everyone was so kind and caring

Dear Sir,

I tripped outside People’s Pharmacy yesterday (September 6), much to my chagrin, but everyone who came to my aid was so kind and caring and considerate that it reinforced my faith in human nature and my fellow Bermudians.

Someone had called an ambulance but by the time I came round from my daze, I immediately asked that it be cancelled, saying I was a nurse and was OK.

I was definitely sore and bruised, and had several abrasions but I didn’t need an ambulance. I wasn’t knocked out so much as winded. One of the men in the crowd that eventually helped me to my feet shared that he remembered me from the hospital when I had taken care of him, and then he in turn helped me. The cycle of life.

I would like to thank all the good Samaritans that came to my aid, and I apologise that I don’t remember their names.

From the lady who I think was first on the scene who sat me up and held me, and eventually with my “ex-patient” got me upright and standing, to all those in the crowd that offered to assist by making phone calls to my family, and one very kind lady who actually went and spoke to my relative and brought him back to me.

I would also like to thank all the staff of People’s Pharmacy who came to my assistance, from the pharmacist to the security officer, and the other staff that helped me out. And speaking as a nurse, I must say that their first aid nursing care was very good.

So many people were so very helpful, they went out of their way to help me and I so appreciate it.

In this day and age of social media. and of course the press where bad news travels so fast, I just wanted to share this good news.

That kind of assistance needs to be acknowledged and I am only sorry I can’t remember their names.

Kindest regards and many thanks indeed.

A VERY GRATEFUL RETIRED NURSE
