Sorting fact from legend: a reader sees a potential danger in being politically correct
Dear Mr Editor,
I am concerned that, as Bermudians trying to be modern and politically correct in response to improving race relations, we may be creating a number of racial myths with romantic stories that are accepted as historical fact but are based on legend.
I understand the need for stories with heroes paving the way for freedom to express the painful experience of slavery, but what will happen if future generations discover the historical myth turns out to be untrue?
