Musical memories of a bygone era

Dear Sir,

There seems to still be quite a number of us still around who can talk about the enjoyment of the dance bands and the ballroom dancing that occupied our lives during the 1920s and 1950s.

Many people thought the bigger the band, the better the music, but in my short career as a musician in dance bands, that was not necessarily so.

The advent of the disco-playing calypso and other line dancing came along and acted as a replacement.

There are those who talk of how they miss the grand entertainment and the tempos of the two-step, rumba, waltzing, tango, beguine and what many called the quickstep that we played for them. That was such an era.

ROSS TUZO
