Giving Hillary a smooth ascension to throne

Chalk and cheese: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is often depicted as a fluffy-headed buffoon by much of the mainstream media, a reader writes, while Democrat Hillary Clinton is portrayed as perfectly groomed and sophisticated (Photograph by Mic Smith/AP/File)

Dear Sir,

Have you noticed every time a photograph of “The Donald” appears in the mainstream media, it shows a fluffy-headed buffoon with twisted mouth, squinting eyes and hand waving manically to illustrate his point.

This is without exception, by the way, and the grimacing and gesticulating is only becoming more pronounced as we move along to crunch time, when he will inevitably confront ... the stately, sophisticated, highly experienced, immaculately coiffured, hard done by contender for the position of next President of the United States of America, in the persona of Hillary Clinton.

Only shots taken from a low angle showing the resolve in the chin and those steely eyes. The hairdo that could easily win competitions. That distinctly presidential posture, at all times.

A woman who has weathered all storms and clearly has the mustard to be the next commander-in-chief (I shudder as I write this).

One wonders just how much Trump has been paid to play the part of the buffoon against the almost saintly role being portrayed by the woman who is slotted to be the 45th president of that great nation.

Trump, a man who one could argue has little need of more money, must be having the time of his life playing this Hollywood role, which, with its almost ludicrous slant, will essentially guarantee Hillary’s smooth ascension to the throne when that critical stage in the electoral process is reached.

For those who saw Wag the Dog way back when, the present production, which should be only loosely referred to as an electoral process, by the way, must be the ultimate in farce genre.

From stand-up cowboy (Reagan) to villain (Nixon) to humble peanut farmer (Carter) to slick hillbilly (Clinton) to macho man (W), on to a black man (Obama).

This obvious progression has to lead us all to ... wait for it ... the ultimate woman (Hillary).

Farther down the road, folks, we move on to ethnic (Mexican-American) and, last but not least ... (Native American). The irony that they were there first and end up coming last cannot be lost on any of us.

So next time you pick up your Gazette, have a close look at The Donald and then compare his face with the resolute profile of Hillary’s.

Then ask yourself the same basic question they will be asking themselves over there come crunch time: “Can we seriously consider this rich New Yorker as president?” Talk about a done deal.
