Tourists frustrated by lack of public transport

Not in service: visitors say they could not get around

Hello Bermuda,

I arrived on March 13, 2016 from Canada with my mother, Anne Goldsmith.

My mom’s best friend lives in Sandys Parish. They have known each other since 1974, but my mother has never been able to afford a trip to see her friend’s beautiful home country until this year. She saved her money and we got tickets.

My mother is disabled and uses a walker, so it took a lot to get her here. Unfortunately, she has seen nothing but her friend’s front yard and the inside of the house because the lack of buses.

I have walked around because I am able but, unfortunately, she requires public transportation to get around.

A kind Bermudian drove us around today (March 15), but we have until March 20 before we go home.

I empathise with Bermudians and the issues they are facing; this country should not be overpopulated. However, there are people here right now who are willing to spend money and promote the country when they go home.

Our experience thus far has been a few Dark and Stormys in a kitchen with the loveliest people in the world. Is there no way that something can be done for the few people trying to get to know your country?
