Why does race have to factor in surveys?

Racial discord: a reader says polls should not focus on race or gender
Dear Sir,
The surveys that The Royal Gazette commissions, in my opinion, lead to more racial discord when they are split up with “so many black males or females” and “so many white males and females” vote this way or that.
It would have a lot more relevance to say: “A poll was taken of random persons on the voting register and the results are ...”
Constantly quoting black, green or white, when it would be better to say “Bermudians”.
Only Bermudians can vote. Let us stop this differential all the time because if this continues this way, 200 years down the road, there will still be this discrimination.
