Grim spectre of consumerism

First Prev 1 2 3 4 Next Last

Dear Sir,

Sunrises just aren't what they used to be: they are the spectre of our consumerism.

The yellow smear is not being belched from the chimney of the house in the foreground, but from the Belco stack on the distant shore.

Time to cut back on everything.

More solar power means more clear sunlight.

And one must wonder what we are drinking these days — not something a little boiling will cure.

WENDY FRITH, Somerset

Price of progress? the yellow smear that mars this sunrise is coming from the Belco stack on the distant shore
Beauty lost: our dirty sky
We need to cut back: solar power equals clearer sunlight
Call for solar power: to get more clear sunlight
