North Rock Communications has announced the launch of its new 10 megabit (MB) per second residential Internet service for $129.95 per month. The Internet service provider has also upgraded the speeds of its services for the same price as the initial one.The 1MB service which was available at $29.95 has been increased to 1.5MB, the 2MB at $69.95 to 2.5MB, the 3MB at $85.95 to 3.5MB, the 6MB at $119.95 to 8MB and the 8MB at $129.95 to 10MB.This follows the announcement of the Bermuda Telephone Company’s (BTC) new 8MB and 10MB line services yesterday.Vicki Coelho, general manager of North Rock, said that the company was responding to tough economic times with its new offering.“North Rock recognises the challenges our community is facing,” she said. “We want to provide cost effective Internet and faster speeds with the announcement of BTC’s introduction of 8MB and 10MB services.“With this new initiative North Rock looks to continue to be Bermuda’s most loved internet provider.”Customers who sign up or upgrade to the new services will receive the first month free and in addition to the changes in speed subscribers will also be able to make unlimited downloads.North Rock is currently challenging rival Digicel’s provision of internet services following the acquisition of Transact and subsequent launch of a new low cost service earlier this month with the case set to be heard in court next month.
