Bistro at the Beach owner Rick Olson is taking over the former Silk Thai restaurant on Front Street.Mr Olson confirmed yesterday he and a partner from the Beach had bought the assets of Silk and were planning a new bar and restaurant concept at the location.“(We are) doing a complete overhaul and expanding our footprint in the building,” he said. “Looking at a high-end steakhouse with local seafood and after-dinner hours.”Mr Olson added they were planning a sophisticated lounge featuring fine wine and fresh cocktails along with weekend entertainment.“We are looking to establish the best place to go out for a great meal and a good time in Bermuda,” he said, adding more would be revealed in the coming weeks.Silk was part of restaurateur Claudio Vigilante’s Fresco’s group up until around October last year.Its controlling shareholders closed it down along with 64° restaurant at Port Royal Golf Course earlier this year.A slew of legal actions have been filed by and against Mr Vigilante.
