Reid Street is becoming the corridor of computers as office supply company AF Smith opens a new shop featuring Apple products and accessories.Named AF Smith Express, the diminutive shop, which is located to the left of HSBC, offers up the fun side of the company’s office supply inventory, such as Bose headphones and colourful iPhone and iPad accessories, along with its hardware counterparts. AF Smith is an authorised reseller of Apple products.“We have been looking for a suitable central Hamilton location for some time and this space was perfect in terms of location and size,” said AF Smith CEO Tim Smith. “We didn’t need a big footprint because our big store off Woodlands Road can service all customer needs. Instead, we wanted to showcase fun and funky office supplies as well as offer unique Apple accessories and the popular Apple iPad and iPod.”The store has been open for two weeks and the new location, says Mr Smith, is convenient for walk-in customers who need quick access to their products but who don’t have the time to get to their main store on Woodlands Road.“Further, customers who order from our new website can now select one of two locations from which to collect their products, either Reid Street or Woodlands Road, whichever is more convenient for them,” he added.AF Smith, which was named to The Bottom Line magazine’s Top 10 Employers list in 2011, employs 58 people and has been in business 1975. Its head office and distribution centre is located at 7 Tumkins Lane in Hamilton.The new store is open from 9am-6pm, Monday through Friday, and on Saturdays from 9am-5pm.
