Renowned tattooist joins Triton
From Amsterdam to the Old Town, Rosana Jakob has joined Gary Macpherson’s Triton Tattoo as guest tattoo artist.Internationally respected in the tattoo world for her work, Ms Jakob, who grew up in east Germany, owns Dermadonna Custom Tattoos in Amsterdam. She has also been a guest at numerous tattooing conventions around the world including in Copenhagen, Toronto and Cape Town, and is known for her for her artistry, impeccable hygiene and professional, customised service. She has been tattooing professionally since 1999 and is experienced in all styles from traditional to realism, and enjoys custom work; she recently began a custom reproduction of a medieval painting on a customer. Her work has been featured in Marie-Claire France, Tattoo Planet, Tattoo Scene and International Tattoo Art Magazine.“I love every style and especially the challenge of something new,” she said.In the coming weeks through early September Ms Jakob will be based at Triton Tattoo/Endemic Arts Collective on Water Street in St George’s.Ms Jakob says she emphasises having an initial consultation with her to discuss ideas, design and positioning, and even the history of a selected design and what it means, before taking the step of customising your body with art. While she loves the art of tattooing, Ms Jakob stresses for anyone considering body art: “My advice is to think twice before you’ll decide to do it, after all it will be a mark for life so you’ll have to be sure to want one (or two, or three…). Also take a close look and be very careful of what to choose, tattoos are very personal and it’s a shame if you’ll regret your choice in the future.“Most important I want customers to feel comfortable with their tattoo, and the after care,” she said.Since she began tattooing more than ten years ago Ms Jakob has seen first-hand how the art form has seeped into the mainstream. While she has tattooed many customers and artists, she has also worked on a 74-year-old, who wanted his late brother drawn on him, and a 68-year-old, who wanted a black widow on her.“It’s grown into a wearable art form that’s definitely gained in popularity and moved into the mainstream with the influence of celebrities and reality TV shows, which do not necessarily present a full picture of the art of tattooing.”For appointments you can contact 732-0233 or Ms Jakob at dermadonnatattoo@yahoo.com or find her on Facebook//DermadonnaCustomTattoos.
