A barrage of bikers, all red-clad Digicel reps on their red rentals, made their way around the City of Hamilton yesterday morning to make a statement about a new prepaid product their selling. The procession was to promote the company’s first ever prepaid package that includes voice, text and data all in one.The Digicel Prepaid Daily Plan includes unlimited local calling, unlimited local text messaging and 10 MB of data for $3.50 per day.For that price, customers also get free incoming Digicel calls, plus free incoming Digicel texts and the $7 Government fee paid for them each month.Digicel says the prepaid market is a big part of what they, accounting for about a quarter of their business. They say this new package will help keep customers current and stay connected.“The inclusion of data makes this plan unique to any other prepaid offering in Bermuda and allows Digicel Prepaid customers to do more than talk and text,” said Digicel Bermuda CEO, Wayne Caines.“We strongly believe that our customers will appreciate this opportunity to get it all for one low price of $3.50 a day.”Shane McDonnell, sales director of Digicel Bermuda said the inclusion of data is key.“Both prepaid and postpaid customers are increasingly purchasing data driven smartphones and devices,” Mr McDonnell said.“This daily plan allows prepaid customers to make the most of their smartphone investment by allowing the use of popular social apps such as BlackBerry Messenger, Whats App, Instagram and thousands more.”Customers who already have a Digicel prepaid SIM card can add the daily plan to their smartphones on their own by dialling in a code — either *235 for BlackBerry or *235 from an iPhone or Android device. The plan is designed to automatically renew 24 hours from activation so long as there is sufficient credit available. Subscribers will be notified when they’ve used up 70 percent and 100 percent of the 10 MB of data.
