Entrepreneur Stefano Harford is making the jump with his new Dockyard business venture. He has launched Spider Jump, a bungee trampoline system, aimed at children and adults. It is located in the area to the west of the Clocktower Mall.Mr Harford, co-owner and manager of the business, had a soft opening last month and said business has been great. He also rents out the portable system for parties and events around the Island, and is seeing demand for that increase as well.“It’s the best five minutes you can have for $8!” he said.Up to four people at a time can jump at the Spider Jump. You are safely harnessed in as you bungee jump on the trampolines. You can jump up to 35 feet in the air, he said, and do double jumps and flips.“It gets the children out and active, and it’s fun for teenagers and adults too,” he said, stressing, he would like more teenagers to try it out.He said he has had many cruise visitors, crew members and many local residents trying it out so far, from ages 2 to up to 60-plus.Mr Harford, who recently returned to Bermuda after living for several years in the US, including in South Carolina, said the system was imported from North America. He approached Wedco for a permit for the business and found them very supportive of the idea, he said.Spider Jump’s rates for setting up the 15-foot-by-15-foot system at special events start at $250 an hour and range based on the type of event. He recently set up his system at the Capital G Iron Kids event. With the aid of bungee ropes, jumpers are able to achieve heights that would ordinarily be impossible to achieve on a regular trampoline. With the added safety of the harness and multiple bungee cords, they're also able to safely do gravity defying acrobatic moves.n For more information contact 705 3574.
