A Bermuda businessman is out to weave a successful business in hair.

Michael Hansey has set up Premier Hair and Wigs — which offers a wide range of natural hair, as well as accessories and wigs.

Mr Hansey, who once ran event promoters Mega Productions and works for the Bermuda Post Office, said there was a huge market for quality hair products in Bermuda.

“There is a big demand for hair. That stuff sell out of the box.

“Bermudian women are very particular about their hair and they’re prepared to spend a lot of money on it.”

Mr Hansey added that the hair, which is sourced in Asia, Malaysia and India, was natural, unprocessed and with no chemical additives.

“All people have to do is unravel it and have it stitched on or glued on — whatever they do.”

Mr Hansey said that his products included u-tips, flat tips and microlinks, suitable for straight hair and other types for braiding.

And he said that Premier Hair and Wigs carries a full range of brushes, rollers, and hair care products.

“We’ve got shampoos and conditioners coming in the next couple of weeks, sunglasses and carnival eyelashes.

“We also have a huge variety of colours, but it’s all natural hair.”

Mr Hansey, who is also set to unveil a new security company on the island, said he had been trying to get into the hair and beauty products business for several years.

“I like making money. I saw the business flourish a few years ago and I found a woman who was interested in doing this.

“I bought airline tickets and she flew around the world, got the product and here we are today.”
