Holistic approach to wellness

Relaxation business: Charlene Bath, owner of the Wellness Method studio

Wellness Method, a new holistic lifestyle and treatment services centre, opened on East Broadway.

Charlene Bath opened the Wellness Method last December bringing her clients 12 years of experience working in five-star luxury hotels in London and Bermuda.

Her idea to start the Wellness Method stemmed from her experience as a Raja teacher.

After seeing first hand the results of offering a fully integrated approach to wellbeing, she decided it was the right time to start her business.

The Wellness Method has the stated aim of bringing together indulgence and rejuvenation to satisfy and calm all of your senses in a comfortable warm setting.

This relaxation will help one feel at ease when talking about health, wellbeing and beauty concerns.

Mrs Bath said: “I’m a huge advocate of self-care. Life is incredibly fast paced, and often physically and emotionally demanding, so it has never been more important to identify what you need and to give it to yourself.

“My responsibility is to the individuals I treat. Each step of the journey, from the consultation, to the personalised selection of skin care, to the professionalism and grace I give in each treatment, provides an opportunity for my clients to stop, recharge and recognise any unhealthy patterns which may be causing a negative impact.”

Providing bespoke treatments, the Wellness Method’s holistic treatment menu gives clients the opportunity to unwind and relax.

Along with the chance for relaxation, clients leave with ways to work on better lifestyle choices whether it’s working on stress levels, improving quality of sleep, or help with clean eating.

Each treatment features products from London-based skin care brand Skin & Tonic.

Mrs Bath chose the brand because of its high standards in ingredients and formulations complementing her own treatment ethics.

“Skin & Tonic is such an inspirational company,” she said. “Not only do they do things honestly and ethically, but their products have remarkable quality and efficacy.”

All products are certified organic and contain a maximum of seven ingredients. They are cruelty free and each product is handcrafted in small batches.

Each patient has a tailored experience. They get to talk to Mrs Bath before they have their treatment about their wellness goals, enjoying a soothing cup of herbal tea and surrounded by the calmingly designed space.

Mrs Bath said: “The ‘Clear Your Mind’ signature experience is a 90-minute treatment that starts with a deeply relaxing back massage, followed by a bespoke holistic facial designed to help guide your skin into balance whilst indulging your senses in luxury and relaxation.

“You will experience a variety of techniques, including cleansing, gentle exfoliation, deeply quenching and hydrating nutrient infusions, signature clay mask applications, therapeutic facial massage, scalp massage and nourishment through minerals, pure oils and herbal extracts. Luxurious plant essences will leave your skin dewy, supple and beautifully radiant.

“I’m always very mindful of the energy in a room and how it influences your wellbeing,” said Mrs Bath. “So when it came to designing the space I really wanted it to have a natural feel. I chose soft neutral colours which really instil a sense of calm, soothing music, air-purifying plants and candle light.

“A good treatment is all about the client journey and the sensory experience is a huge part of that. The small details help set the tone for the treatment ahead and are a reflection of the level of care that I feel towards the service I provide,” she added.

While working at Willow Stream Spa, Mrs Bath was headhunted to be part of the pre-opening team for the Bulgari Hotel & Residences, one of the first brand new hotels to open in London in 40 years.

There she treated high-profile guests, including royalty, while also focusing on showcasing the spa’s signature treatments working with press from Vogue, Tatler, Harper’s Bazaar and Conde Nast Traveler. Most recently as treatment and wellness manager at a luxury holistic wellbeing centre she helped clients target their wellness goals through holistic therapies, yoga and breathing techniques — something she has worked to create for her own clients.

“Wellness Method is a place for those who not only have an interest in health and wellbeing, but for those who are perhaps feeling a little bit out of step, who recognise the benefits of taking that precious time out of their day to day, and want to maintain that consistency in their wellbeing,” said Mrs Bath.
