The Bermuda Economic Development Corporation is encouraging entrepreneurs to attend an information session about the organisation’s co-op developer programme.

The programme pays the business minded to develop and operate viable co-operatives.

The session aims to empower potential co-operative developers by offering a comprehensive overview of the BEDC's co-operative business education process.

The programme offers an opportunity for those seeking to influence the local economy through the development of co-operative businesses.

Selected candidates, following an eight-week flexible educational series of workshops, will have the ability to develop a locally focused co-op business plan, create inclusive opportunities and identify innovative methods of meeting emerging needs or capturing new market opportunities.

Williams Spriggs, economic and co-operative development director at BEDC, said: "We encourage aspiring developers who possess a strong capacity for critical thinking, efficient communication and are results-driven to attend this session.

“Our vision is to empower participants with the necessary tools to enact real change in their community through co-operative business initiatives."

The BEDC said those interested should possess a basic understanding of, or be comfortable with, the traditional business planning process, financial feasibility analysis and working with team dynamics.

The information session on June 29 at the BEDC is particularly suited for individuals eager to develop co-operative businesses and secure a stipend for their time invested in formulating a business plan that encourages collaboration and co-operativeness.
