BermudAir has begun offering cargo services to and from the island.

The first shipment from Boston arrived on Thursday for Dunkley's Bermuda.

The airline said that service on its other routes — Fort Lauderdale and Westchester, New York — will follow.

“We’re delighted to add cargo services to support the local business community and their overseas suppliers,” said Adam Scott, founder and chief executive of BermudAir.

“Being able to offer another supply-chain option for Bermuda’s wholesale and retail companies for cost-effective, safe, frequent transportation of goods to and from the island is the latest step in our evolution.

“We’re proud to mark this important milestone while supporting the local economy.”

Cargo service to and from Boston is available on flights every day except Tuesdays.

The airline can accommodate cargo of a maximum weight per piece of 45kg, and a maximum shipment weight of 1,000kg with dimensions of up to 60cm x 60cm x 60cm. Hazardous shipments cannot be accepted.

BermudAir said its cargo service complies with all relevant local and international regulations, including the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority, IATA, TSA and ASSI, for fast‚ convenient and efficient shipment by air.

The airline said it has established a dedicated cargo team, along with a network of carefully selected distribution partners, to manage client shipments. The team can be contacted on cargo@flybermudair.com.

They also have a general sales agent overseas with global contacts, linking BermudAir with other international carriers connecting to its scheduled flights from the United States.

The airline said this provides a one-stop connection that extends the scope of BermudAir’s cargo service, which can also provide information as required: sales.jfk@eurocargoaviation.com.
