BermudAir is expanding its new Turks and Caicos network with twice-weekly non-stop flights between Newark and South Caicos from December 20.

The Bermudian-based airline said the seasonal service, subject to government approval, will operate on Thursdays and Sundays until April 25, 2027.

It will be the first direct service between the New York area and South Caicos, a smaller and quieter island destination than Providenciales. BermudAir said the route will double scheduled international flights to South Caicos during the winter season, from two to four each week.

Fares will start at $347 one way, or $773 return.

Adam Scott, the founder and chief executive of BermudAir, said the route was developed after an approach by Salterra, a luxury resort on South Caicos.

He said: “Adding South Caicos to our new Turks service gives travellers something genuinely different within the Turks and Caicos Islands, and we saw a compelling opportunity when Salterra approached us about connecting the island directly with the New York market.

“This route is about more than adding another point to our Caribbean network. It creates easier access to an exceptional island while generating meaningful economic activity and supporting South Caicos’ next chapter of sustainable tourism growth.”

The three-and-a-half-hour route will be operated with Embraer E190 aircraft.

Salterra opened in 2025 as the first Luxury Collection resort in Turks and Caicos. Michael Tibbetts, its founder and CEO, said improved air access was part of the resort’s plans for the destination.

He said: “We are proud to have helped bring this route to life, but its significance extends far beyond Salterra. It creates a new gateway to South Caicos and new opportunities for the businesses, people and community that make the island so extraordinary.”

The announcement builds on BermudAir’s expansion into Turks and Caicos, with flights to Providenciales planned from Newark, Boston, Baltimore-Washington, Raleigh-Durham, Fort Lauderdale, St Petersburg/Tampa and Toronto.

Most of those routes are due to begin in December, while Fort Lauderdale service is scheduled to start on October 26.
