Scott Barnes will look to end the year on a high when he completes his triumvirate of overseas races this season at the World Karting Association Daytona Kartweek.Barnes, who raced at the Rock Island Grand Prix in Illinois in September and the Skusa SuperNationals last month, takes to the iconic Daytona International Speedway for practice today before racing tomorrow and Monday.He will be looking to retain the 125 Stock Honda Shifter title he won last year and finish on the podium in the 125 Sprint Shifter class.“We won the Stock Honda last year and the goal is to definitely get some wins,” said Barnes, who is sponsored by Butterfield & Vallis. “There will be close to 20 [drivers] in each class, which is awesome.“This is the only race that I do completely by myself, the tuning, the mechanics, everything falls on me.”Barnes said he was excited about once again experiencing the magic of the world-renowned track, which is the home of the Daytona 500 Nascar race.“It’s always a great weekend and I love road racing; it’s a lot different from sprint racing,” added Barnes, who will compete in the Skusa Superkarts USA Pro Tour next season in what will be his first US Championship series.“I’ve done a lot of road racing over the years and it’s something I’m used to, something I’m good at. “Hopefully the karts stay together; that’s always the main thing. They are 25-minute races, long races.“It’s always nice to be back at this legendary track and there’s so much history there. It’s always nice to come and feel that atmosphere.”
