Hammers need to start spending, and quick

Avram Grant needs to spend some money, and quickly. The diabolical performance West Ham put in against Arsenal last week shows how fragile we are as a team.We had a few good games against Birmingham in the Carling Cup and Barnsley in the FA Cup, both of which were wins, but it goes to show that if we don’t have Scott Parker we don’t look as if we can do anything. We need someone else to pick up the slack and it is time for Carlton Cole to pick his game up, start scoring goals, and prove his worth.I just wish we could get someone like Darren Bent. He’s a good signing for Aston Villa, and he’ll always score goals for you.Villa made a good coup in getting him becasue when you look at his record he has scored as many goals as anyone around. So you can’t knock him because they spent all that money on him and good luck to him.Stoke have also done well in getting John Carew because it is a good fit for both parties involved. They need a bit more bite upfront, and he is an international player and understands the game well.Roque Santa Cruz going back to Blackburn is good as well because good professionals want to play, and for him to play for his country he is good enough for his club.It is a shame, however, that his club is Manchester City and they have more then enough players to fill any gaps so it is hard to get a game there. When you look at Emmanuel Adebayor and Shawn Wright-Phillips they are good players but caught up in the numbers, so it is important that they get a chance to play. Maybe it is with their current club, or maybe it’s somewhere else.Players want to play and it makes no sense to go and sit on the bench while collecting money, that is just foolishness and laziness to be fine with this situation.it is a short career and you want to be out there testing your skills against the best players in the world, so it is a great thing for Santa Cruz to go back to where he was and want to play regular football.Sitting on the bench is nothing compared to playing and all players want to play.My mate Harry is at it again with the signing of Steven Pienaar, I am kind of mindboggled that he is bringing in more players but not letting any go.There is an abundance of players with talent at the club and this is starting too look like City in regards to all the players they have.If you bring in a lot of players you will eventually start pissing the current group of guys off, and I understand you have to have competition for places but how many players do you need for one spot.It makes no sense in having four players fighting for one spot when only on player can play.If you got two or three players covering one position that’s more then enough. The Spurs v Manchester United match was a good game and in the end it was a fair result, they both were good defensively and United got what they wanted, which was to come out with one point and without a loss so it worked for both teams as well as the other in the title race.Next up for Spurs is City and if they can keep doing what they are doing and continue to work hard, they will be ok.They have workers in their team like Luka Modric, Rafael Van De Vaart and if the don’t drop the intensity they will be fine but they must keep the intensity at a high level.I am pleased with the young Bermuda team and how they are getting on in the Under-20 World Cup Qualifiers. You always want to see your country doing well and playing at the highest level and hopefully they can do something with this opportunity. We need something to cheer about in the sport because we have been down for soo long and it is time that a team makes us proud and we need to be playing at the international level if we are to be going places.
