Managers should be able to play who they want
A bunch of suits who know nothing about football have fined Blackpool for fielding a weakened team. What a disgrace. If Sir Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger change their teams it’s called squad rotation, if Blackpool or some other team do it they get punished.Ian Holloway is right when he says that as the manager of the club he should be able to play who he wants. If you have 20 players to choose from, and they can play, why shouldn’t they.I agree with the Holloway, he only answeres to his chairman and doesn’t need to worry about the FA.They sit in an office and make decisions, but they don’t know what it means to run a team.Changes are made every week with clubs so I don’t see the issue with it. Also, if the players are in the squad, that means they have to be good enough to be there, so how is it a weakend team? It’s one rule for the rich, and another for the poor.Somethings never change.n n nOne thing I would like to change is Avram Grant.I had a front row seat for the second leg of the Carling Cup match between West Ham and Birmingham and I am puzzled with how he acts on the touchline. No emotion when we score, or when we concede.Grant needs to change his way of motivating a little bit, I mean you can’t stand on the sideline as the coach with no facial expression. I at least want to see some sort of passion from him, and maybe it will rub off onto the players.Mind you, we didn’t deserve to win anyway. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sad that we lost, but we just weren’t good enough over two legs. For starters you can’t let two players have free headers in front of goal and not expect to be punished. Even for Birmingham’s first goal, their striker was left alone and unmarked. You also have to give credit to Birmingham for the win but we were awful. The final will be interesting, although I expect Arsenal to walk it. I know it’s a final, and anything can happen, but the only way Wenger’s side will lose is if they have a lot of injuries.n n nIt’s probably Arsenal’s only chance of winning any silverware this season, because, for me, the Premier League is as good as over.Manchester United are in awesome form and everything is going for them at the moment. They have Dimitar Berbatov who is on fire, they seem to be getting the luck when needed, and they are gelling at the right time.Sir Alex’s side are now five points clear and it is their title to lose, if they keep this up then it will be difficult for anyone to catch them. United haven’t lost a game all season and you are now expecting them to lose three or four, that isn’t going to happen. One thing about United and Sir Alex Ferguson, once they get their hands on something they don’t really let things slip away.n n nEmmanuel Adebayor should do well with Real Madrid. All good players know what is expected of them and he should fit in well with them because they are a footballing team, and Arsenal are a footballing team, so he should make the transition smoothly.
