Arsenal are too mentally fragile to win title

I’m starting to wonder whether Arsenal actually want to win the title.I know the game can be unfair at times but I find it mind boggling how the Gunners continually blow chance after chance.Against their archrivals Tottenham on Wednesday, Arsenal threw away a golden opportunity to increase the pressure on Manchester United as the business end of the season approaches. To be leading 3-1 at one stage and to still end up coming away with a share of the spoils raises some real question marks about Arsenal’s mental fragility. The title race isn’t over just yet, though, and anything can happen. Manchester United still have to play Everton, Arsenal and Chelsea, so it’s not an easy road for Alex Ferguson’s side. I think United’s matches against the latter two will be the deciding factor. They aren’t playing the best, United, but they are able to grind out results and that’s what happens when you have title calibre players. If you have players who know how to get you over the hump, you’re always going to be okay. The difference between Arsenal and United is that Arsenal just don’t have experienced players like Ryan Giggs or Paul Scholes in their team.Arsenal are also absent of any leaders in defence; players who know how to hammer people as well as a commanding midfielder like Patrick Vieira.Real Madrid will be thrilled with their victory over Barcelona in the Copa del Rey, but they can’t look into it too much. If it were a two-legged affair Barca, I think, would have done the job in the second game. The Copa del Rey result shouldn’t have any bearing on Barca’s Champions League campaign. You can bet your life they will be purring again once they get back the likes of Carlos Puyol and Eric Abidal.Spurs’ Gareth Bale was named the Premier League’s ‘Player of the Year’ this week but I think there were a few players who could have won that award.Dimitar Berbatov has had a great season or United and had he been on a good run of form of late, could be a 30-goal a season striker.Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere could have picked it up as well for his great contribution this season, but for Chelsea no one has stepped up for them really. I can’t argue with Bale though because he has been the most exciting player to watch this season. This weekend, Chelsea play West Ham and it will be a crucial game for both sides. I need to stop taking the game so serious and pass my passion on to the players because it is hurting my heart. With the form Chelsea are in, it will be a long afternoon for the Hammers but at least we get this game out of the way now instead of later on when it is crunch time.We have some winnable games left and all our home matches will be must wins for us.
