Great win . . . but there's more work to do

What a stunning victory for Bermuda that was over Caribbean heavyweights Trinidad & Tobago. In the past we have shown we can get the job done against bigger teams but to do it in a must-win match makes the win extra special in my eyes.It just goes to show how good we can be when the Bermuda national team have their full complement of players and coaches available. The victory will in turn lift the nation as well as raise expectations ahead of the final three games of Bermuda Group qualifying campaign, starting tonight against Guyana. But while the players deserve all the praise they got for Friday night's win against Trinidad it will mean nothing unless they beat Guyana to keep their qualification hopes alive.Guyana have made a blistering start to the campaign, coming off an away victory against Barbados. They are top of the group, undefeated and have already beaten Bermuda at home, so they are no slouches. We must focus on the task at hand and be ready to go the whole way for the result.Guyana still have to go and play group favourites Trinidad twice so if Bermuda win tonight everything is still to play for. With how the group is shaping up, it is going to come down to the wire. It's a shame we couldn't have picked up a point in either of our away games against Trinidad or Guyana, then we would have stood a great chance. But the ball is in our court and sometimes it is hard to win on the road. I know this first hand and it isn't easy going to someone else's patch and trying to get something. We have to approach this match the same way the boys tackle home games with their domestic clubs no one should be coming to Bermuda and even thinking about getting a result, let alone one point. If our players can come out with intensity we will have a great chance and the teams that are successful have the siege mentality; win your home games, go on the road looking to get a result and leave an opponent's home with the psychological advantage. Now we have to show Guyana that this is our place and there won't be a repeat of the previous result. One key thing is that we have to let last week's match go; it was a good win but now it is time to focus and be ready. They are coming here looking to keep their unbeaten record intact and it is our job to put an end to this.I have heard about the issues pertaining to the entrance of spectators and how long it took to get in the game, but I'm sure this won't be an issue this time around.People have to have patient, we are a small country trying to get into the biggest spectacle in the world and we only have so many people that can do the job.The people at the Bermuda Football Association are doing a wonderful job in handling all of this, so everyone needs to show some understanding and everything will work out OK.
