Hoping for a spirited not soggy Cup Match

Hi Peeps!Well, we seem to have made it through a good chunk of the week without anyone being struck by lightning, which is always good! Let's hope any more crazy weather thinking about coming our way gets it over with before next week soggy Cup Matches are just not so much fun (although they are still fun, just not so much as sunny Cup Matches)! Here is the latest roundup of things to do in Bermuda:l A great excuse to dig out those flares as Shine's House of Music & Entertainment is running a 70s Disco Theatre Production every Monday and Thursday at 7.30pm until November 1. 'Death by Disco' is a family-friendly (PG13) show with an all-star Bermudian cast featuring Nadanja and Nishanthi Bailey, Jah Simmons, Deborah Joell, Raymond Johnson, DeAzha Chambers and Shine Hayward. All are welcome but they suggest you get there early since spaces are limited.l In honour of Bermuda's emancipation, the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs presents' The Trail of Our People: Social Dynamics of Self-Reliance'. This ceremony honouring community heroes will be held on Tuesday, July 31 at 7pm at Sandys Secondary Middle School Amphitheatre and will feature dance performances choreographed by Eric Bean and solos by Madree Musson and Toni Robinson. This event is free to the public and you are invited to bring a cushion for more comfortable seating. This is a rain or shine event open to boys and girls aged 16 or under. The fishing starts at 8.30am and you can choose whether you want to fish on shore or by boat, using rod and reel or handline. The weigh-in is between 3pm and 5pm with the prize presentation at the Royal Hamilton Dinghy Club on Saturday, August 25 at 10am. The deadline for entry forms is 3pm on Saturday, August 11 and the forms are available from Flybridge Tackle, Daisy & Mac, Bermuda Linens & Gifts in St George's or from their website at www.bermudaanglersclub.com.l In celebration of its 40th anniversary, Bermuda Civic Ballet invite you to join them under the stars at Fort Hamilton to enjoy their interpretation of Romeo and Juliet, choreographed by Svebor Secak, principal dancer of the Croatian National Theatre and artistic leader of Ballet Troupe Croatia. This production will run from Wednesday, August 22 until Saturday, August 25 and features principals and soloists from the Croatian National Theatre, local actors and fire spinners, performers from the Bermuda Fencing Federation, local dancers and students from the Bermuda Civic Ballet Summer School. Showtime is at 8.30pm each evening and tickets are $45 for adults, $35 for seniors and $15 for students aged 16 and under. If you want to make a night of it, there is also a special three course dinner on offer at Taste One-Four-One at 141 Front Street at 6pm and includes train transportation to Fort Hamilton.
