People looking over Hamilton Harbour last Thursday must have had their curiosity piqued whrn they saw the cargo ship the Bermuda Islander docked in Salt Kettle Deep.

The reason? The ship was docked there for the Meyer Freight Customer Appreciation Cocktail Reception held at The Newstead Belmont Hills.

Sales and marketing representative, George Butterfield said: "This is a way of showing our appreciation to our customers and service providers for their support over the last year. While customers dine they can view the ship that provides business to them through Bermuda International Shipping Limited BISL."

Myer Freight is also the agent for Somers Isles Shipping Limited SISL who own and operate the MV Somers Isles.

The Somers Isles, which arrived yesterday morning from Fernandina Beach, Florida, discharged 151 containers including three reefers and a Winnebago Vista Recreational Vehicle.

She is scheduled to return to Fernandina Beach at today 4.30 pm.

The Bermuda Islander will arrive from Salem, New Jersey at 8.05 a.m. tomorrow.

She will discharge 158 containers including 29 reefers and eight flatracks before her departure 8.05 a.m. on Friday.
