Yesterday’s article about a poll on reducing the size of the Civil Service incorrectly stated Opposition Leader Marc Bean had described privatisation as union-busting and monopoly-creating.

In fact, those remarks were made by a member of the audience at a town-hall meeting organised by the Progressive Labour Party.

In addition, our report paraphrased Shadow Finance Minister David Burt as claiming Government needs to grow instead of cut.

Mr Burt actually said: “The SAGE Commission does not consider all the options; it was only put in place to figure out what to cut.

“We can cut, or we can grow. I think there’s another set of options that we’re missing.”

He added that more revenue for the country would result in “less drastic cuts”.

We apologise for the misrepresentation.
