ACE Limited was added to Standard&Poor's (S&P) 500 Index yesterday.

ACE, which is a Bermuda-based company, is replacing another company (which merged into an already listed company) on the S&P 500 Index as of the close of trading yesterday.

ACE will be added to the S&P 500 Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS), Property & Casualty Insurance sub-industry group.

According to Standard and Poor's, the S&P 500 Index consists of 500 stocks chosen for market size, liquidity, and industry group representation. It is a market-value weighted index (stock price times number of shares outstanding), with each stock's weight in the Index proportionate to its market value.
