Bermuda Employers Council offers new courses
The Bermuda Employers Council (BEC) is offering several new courses to help Bermudian graduates improve their skills in an effort to find employment in the Island's diversified business sector.
The Vital Learning courses on offer include Number Skills, Proofmatics, Achieving Communication Effectiveness and Professionalism in the Office and will be taught by facilitator Stuart Doyle.
A self improvement seminar based on the book, 'The Greatest Salesman in the World' by Og Mandino and the author's success system, will also be offered at the end of this month by Mr. Doyle.
"We just wanted to make the public aware of these state of the art programmes. These programmes create an experience that takes you through literally to self-esteem," said Mr. Doyle.
Mr. Doyle said the results are measurable as testing is done before and after studying the course with average improvements in number skills of approximately 60 percent.
He said the courses were aimed at students leaving CedarBridge or Berkeley, for example, who wanted to join the financial industry and he said the ten hour courses would help them up their skill levels.
Promotional material for the seminar said: "Using a series of unique and varied experiential processes and activities, this system promotes and fosters self-discovery, the most powerful catalyst for creating lasting improvement."
Mr. Doyle, who has been teaching in Bermuda for 30 years, said students need to continue to refresh what they have learned once they become employed and the course recommends an hour a month to review the course material which provided, "a combination of classroom learning and technological follow up".
Founded in 1989, the Vital Learning Corporation is an international provider of award-winning employee development programmes which more than one million people have used to improve their on-the-job performance.
