BSX closes week flat

The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index ended last week just about where it began, closing up 0.713 points at 2,265.98.

Two stocks advanced and two fell during the week, but volume was relatively strong with a total of 61,705 shares worth $1.23 million changing hands.

Bank of Butterfield ended the week up 25 cents at $32. 50 on volume of 28,903 shares. That offset a decline in Bermuda Commercial Bank, which fell 50 cents or 7.69 percent to close $6 on volume of 1,700.

Belco shares also fell, dropping 50 cents to $30.50 on volume of 700. KeyTech eight percent preference shares, which are not a component of the Index, gained 50 cents to close at a new high of $11.75 on volume of 8,500 as investors took advantage of the shares' superior yield.
