The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange index gained 43.49 points or 1.60 percent yesterday to close at 2,639.22.

The only two active issues were in the banking sector.

The Bank of Bermuda gained 85 cents or 1.9 percent to close at $44.95 on volume of 6,364.

The Bank of Butterfield gained 75 cents or 2.4 percent to close at $32 on volume of 1,600.
