It was an active day at the Bermuda Stock Exchange Index yesterday with 23,928 shares worth $902,684 changing hands. The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange index gained 12.38 points or 0.49 percent to close at 2,518.61.

Leading the charge was the Bank of Bermuda which gained 85 cents or 1.8 percent to close at $47.85. The Bank of Butterfield however fell 25 cents or 0.9 percent to close at $29.

Bermuda Press (Holdings) Ltd. gained 30 cents or 3.3 percent to close at $9.30.

In the Utilities sector, Belco Holdings fell $1.50 or 5.5 percent to close at $26 while KeyTech Ltd. gained 25 cents or 0.6 percent to close at $41.25.
